AI by Hand ✍️ Math for Beginners

We will meet at a virtual classroom on the roof!
Follow this link to enter the AI by Hand space:

You will be prompted to enter the password. If you have registered for the event, you should have received the password in your email inbox the day before the event.
Once you are in the lobby area, follow the blue arrows to the roof.
On the roof, you will see five tables. Pick an empty seat. The number is your team number.
Press ‘x’ to interact with the notebook. A link will appear. Click on the link to open a notebook in your web browser.
Notebook
The “notebook” is an online Excel spreadsheet we can all work on together as a class or as a team.
The first sheet is used by the instructor.
The instructor will demonstrate each problem by hand. ✍️
Team
Each team has its own sheet. Go to your team’s sheet. For example, if you sit at table 2, go to sheet “Team 2.”
Introduce yourself by writing your name down in the box next to your seat. For example, Peter is sitting on the red chair at Team 2’s table. He wrote “Peter” using the red pen in the box next to the red chair.
Practice by Hand ✍️
During the workshop, you will practice solving a series of math problems by hand. ✍️
You will have your copy of the problem to solve (next to your chair), while everyone is solving the same problem.

One key principle of this workshop is: we learn together, not alone.
If you finish early, help others.
If you are stuck, ask others.
Our teaching staff will work around and help.
Your team’s final challenge is to solve this neural network together as the team!
