Gemma 4 Seminar Recording
AI by Hand ✍️ Seminar Series
Thank you again to everyone who joined the Frontier AI Seminar on Gemma 4. It genuinely means a lot to see so many people willing to spend their morning, afternoon, evening, working through tensors, attention masks, KV cache, MoE routing, and residual streams together.
What started as a small online lecture is now growing into one of the largest live gathering of people focused on learning AI math and algorithms from first principles. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who keeps showing up, asking questions, helping each other in the chat, and learning alongside me.
I always hope these sessions make frontier AI feel more tangible by hand, more intuitive, and something we can truly work through by hand instead of treating as a black box.
One of my favorite moments from this session was sharing the “birthday card” analogy for residual streams and transformer layers. Instead of each layer rewriting everything from scratch, every layer simply adds a little more information to the shared card as it passes through the network.
